background
Located in Netanya, in central Israel, the Organi Green Farm was established in 2013, with the aim of creating a green and healthy environment and a center for sustainable farming based on organic agriculture. The farm grows vegetables under sheltered structures (greenhouse/net house) and in open fields, including a variety of exclusive fruits, all grown organically. It also home to a livestock farm with a chicken run for organic eggs, an organic goat pen, milking facility that produces healthy, premium-quality dairy products, and a fishpond for breeding several types of freshwater Bass.
Challenge
Located in a densely populated urban area, Organi Green must ensure reliable water sources that would best serve the farm’s assets, including livestock, agriculture, and fish. As a producer of organic end-products, sustainability was a key consideration when looking for a water treatment system to increase water re-use, specifically in their irrigation systems and fishpond, where growing healthier, fish, primed and ready for market, was dependent on the highest possible water quality.
Organi Green partnered with BioFishency, who designed, produced and installed its Recirculating Aquaculture System (RAS) BioFishency SPB™ RAS 180 system, for growing the farm’s Hybrid Striped Bass.
Results
Following implementation, the RAS 180 system yielded unprecedented results, with zero water discharge (i/e/ almost 100% water re-use). BioFishency’s SPB™ RAS 180 enabled the production of healthier bass, while lowering the carbon footprint, saving on valuable resources, and costs. In keeping with its sustainable practices, Organi Green uses the BioFishency-treated discharge water from the RAS 180 for irrigation in other locations on the farm.
Thanks to BioFishency’s SPB™ RAS 180, Organi Green has been operating successfully, and have been profitable for the last several years, growing healthier fish and supplying them to the local market.
