BioFishency Ltd. develops, manufactures and markets disruptive electro-chemical and biological aquaculture water treatment solutions for Recirculated Aquaculture Systems (RAS). Igal brings years of aquaculture experience and expertise to the BioFishency team. Prior to co-founding the company, he held the position of Head of the Aquaculture Division, Israel Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. Earlier in his career, he served as a consultant and project manager in the development of public and private aquaculture projects in Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda, and select countries in South America, and the Caribbean, coupled with various USAID projects in Guyana. He holds a BSc and MSc in Marine Biology from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Faculty of Marine Sciences.

Prof. Lahav is a faculty member at the Civil and Environmental Engineering at the Technion, and head of the Environmental Engineering subdivision at Guangdong Technion – Israel of Technology (GTIIT), specializing in Aquatic Chemistry and Water Treatment process development and applications, in addition to serving as head of the faculty’s Environmental, Water and Agricultural division. Prior, Prof. Lahav was Dean of Undergraduate Studies at GTIIT (2017-2020), and head of the Grand Water Research Institute at the Technion (2015-2017). His research interests include reverse osmosis desalination, removal of nitrogen species from drinking and agricultural waters, aquacultural engineering, and ocean resource recovery. Prof. Lahav has published ~115 papers in leading peer reviewed journals, and won several prizes, including the 2010 France-Israel Foundation Award for Academic Excellence in the field of Water. He holds a BSc in Agricultural Engineering, MSc in Environmental (Civil) Engineering, and a PhD in Environmental Engineering, from the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology, Haifa, Israel.
